A number of actions have recently come to fruition in the attempt to reduce crime and anti social behaviour around the Warwick Quadrant, after joint working by Surrey Police and Reigate & Banstead Borough Council.
Following negotiations with the leaseholders of the Warwick Quadrant, three new CCTV cameras have now been linked to the police control room. They cover the top car park and entrance, foyer plus stairs, and under the canopy of the shops opposite.
A simultaneous youth-engagement programme (funded through the Community Safety Partnership) has also just been successfully completed with those young people causing the initial disturbances, one of whom received an ASBO during the course of the programme (see this link).
A greater security presence outside the library and Harlequin has also been put in place, and the Harlequin’s afternoon opening hours have been adjusted to reduce some problems.
A combination of these approaches, along with co-ordinated police and Council enforcement measures, have led to a significant reduction in anti-social behaviour in the area
